What is Photofacial?
Photofacial is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to target various skin concerns, including sun damage, age spots, and other signs of aging. The treatment delivers high-intensity pulses of light to the skin, which penetrates deep into the tissue to stimulate collagen production and promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
Photofacial is a safe and effective option for those looking to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, such as hyperpigmentation, redness, and fine lines. The treatment is quick and painless, and there is typically no downtime or recovery period required.
Our team of experienced technicians will work with you to determine the best course of treatment based on your individual needs and goals.
How To Prepare?
- Avoid sun exposure: It’s important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sun exposure can increase the risk of burns or discoloration during the treatment. If you must be in the sun, be sure to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and cover the treated area with clothing.
- Avoid using certain skincare products: In the week leading up to your appointment, avoid using any products that may irritate the skin, such as retinoids, exfoliants, or products with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These products can make your skin more sensitive to the treatment.
- Shave the treatment area: If you’re receiving photofacial on an area with hair, such as your face, it’s recommended to shave the area a day or two before your appointment. This will allow the light to penetrate more deeply into the skin and improve the effectiveness of the treatment.
- Avoid waxing or plucking: Avoid waxing or plucking the treatment area for at least two weeks before your appointment. The hair follicles need to be intact for the treatment to be effective.
- Inform your technician of any medications: Inform your technician of any medications you’re taking, as some medications can increase the risk of complications during the treatment.
By following these preparation tips, you can help ensure that your photofacial treatment is safe and effective, and that you achieve the best possible results.
After Your Appointment?
- Apply a cool compress: Applying a cool compress to the treated area can help reduce redness and inflammation. You can use a cold pack or wrap ice in a towel and apply it to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at a time.
- Use gentle skincare products: For the first few days after your treatment, use gentle skincare products that won’t irritate your skin. Avoid using products with retinoids, AHAs, or harsh chemicals.
- Avoid sun exposure: It’s important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after your treatment. If you must be in the sun, wear a hat and use sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
- Don’t pick at your skin: Resist the urge to pick at any dry or flaky skin that may result from the treatment. This can lead to scarring or other complications.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help keep your skin hydrated and promote healing.
- Follow any additional instructions provided by your skincare professional: Your skincare professional may provide additional instructions or recommend specific products to use after the treatment. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure the best possible results.
