Chemical Peels
-
Treatment time varies depending on the type of peel selected and any add-ons. Most chemical peel appointments take 30–60 minutes.
-
Downtime depends on the strength of the peel. Some peels have little to no downtime, while others may cause visible peeling, dryness, or sensitivity for several days. This will be discussed during your consultation so you know what to expect.
-
Many clients notice brighter, smoother skin within the first week. Continued improvements occur as the skin renews over time, especially with a series of treatments.
-
The number of sessions varies by individual and skin concern. Some clients see results after a few treatments, while others may benefit from a series. Your treatment plan will be customized based on your skin goals and response to treatment.
-
Yes, chemical peels can be combined with treatments such as HydroFacial, dermaplaning, LED light therapy, and microneedling. Microneedling is only combined with BioRePeel and from the second treatment onward, depending on your skin’s suitability. This will be assessed during your consultation to ensure safety and optimal results.
-
We generally recommend scheduling chemical peels 2–4 weeks before a major event, depending on the type of peel and your skin’s sensitivity. This allows time for any peeling or redness to fully resolve.
-
Preparation instructions will be included in your appointment confirmation email. Please review the service-specific notes prior to your appointment. In general, avoid active skincare (retinoids, exfoliants, acids) for 5-7 days before your peel unless otherwise directed.
-
After your peel, your skin may feel dry or sensitive. Avoid active products and exfoliation for 5–7 days (or as advised), keep your skin well moisturized, avoid direct sun exposure, and apply broad-spectrum SPF daily. Avoid heat, steam, and intense workouts for at least 24–48 hours.
-
Many chemical peels can be customized for different skin types and tones. During your consultation, we will determine the most appropriate peel for your skin to ensure safety and effective results.
-
No. We do not perform chemical peels during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Due to the active ingredients used and changes in skin sensitivity during pregnancy, we recommend postponing chemical peel treatments until after pregnancy. If you are pregnant, we’re happy to recommend pregnancy-safe alternatives to support your skin during this time.
-
There are three main types of chemical peels:
Superficial Peels: Exfoliate the outer layer of the skin.
Medium Peels: Penetrate the outer and middle layers of the skin.
Deep Peels: Reach the middle of deeper layers of the skin.
-
Sensation varies depending on the type of peel and your individual skin sensitivity. Every peel is different, but most clients experience tingling, warmth, or mild stinging during application. We provide a cooling fan during the treatment to help keep you comfortable, and any sensation typically subsides quickly once the peel is complete.
-
: Yes, chemical peels can be done in the summer with proper sun protection and aftercare. Because the skin is more sensitive to UV exposure after a peel, it’s important to be diligent with sun avoidance, daily SPF use, and protective measures following treatment. We recommend minimizing direct sun exposure, wearing protective clothing when outdoors, and following all post-treatment instructions carefully to protect your results and reduce the risk of pigmentation.
-
If you’re looking for results with minimal downtime and little to no visible peeling, we recommend BioRePeel or GlyMed Plus peels, which are designed to be more gentle on the skin while still improving tone, texture, and overall clarity. These options are ideal for clients who want skin rejuvenation without taking time off from work or social activities. Suitability will be assessed during your consultation to ensure the best option for your skin goals.
-
If you’re new to chemical peels and feeling unsure, we recommend starting with our GlyMed Plus peels, which are very gentle and superficial. These peels are designed for first-time clients who want to try a peel without the fear of downtime. Most clients do not experience peeling, dryness, or noticeable redness, making it a great introduction to chemical peels while still providing skin-refreshing benefits. If your first treatment goes well and your skin tolerates it comfortably, we can gradually progress to stronger peel options over time based on your skin goals and response. Suitability will always be assessed during your consultation to ensure the best option for your skin.
